2. Transfer the AI Key to the CEHv13 Parrot Security VM

Overview

Some CEHv13 labs require the AI Activation Key inside the Parrot Security VM to set up and use ShellGPT. This article explains two simple ways to transfer your key from your host machine to the Parrot VM.

Before You Begin

• Make sure you have already retrieved your AI Activation Key from the ASPEN portal (or iClass/ECL if applicable).

• Keep the key saved in a plain text file (such as Notepad) for easy copy-and-paste.

Method 1 – Log in to ASPEN Directly from Parrot

1. Launch your CEHv13 lab and open the Parrot Security VM.

2. Open a web browser in Parrot (e.g., Firefox).

3. Go to https://aspen.eccouncil.org

4. Log in with your ASPEN credentials.

5. Go to My Courses → CEHv13 course → Training → Download AI Activation Key.

6. Copy the key from the pop-up and paste it directly into your ShellGPT setup when prompted.

Method 2 – Transfer from Host Machine to Parrot

1. On your host machine, copy the AI Activation Key from your saved file.

2. Open the Parrot VM.

3. Use the Lab Clipboard or Paste Text feature (varies by lab platform) to paste the key into the Parrot VM.

   • In Skillable’s lab client, click the Clipboard icon in the toolbar.

   • Paste your AI Key into the clipboard box and click Send to VM.

4. Once the key appears inside Parrot, paste it into the ShellGPT setup prompt.

Tips

• Avoid typing the key manually — keys are case-sensitive and long.

• If copy-paste fails, verify your lab client’s clipboard feature is enabled.

• Keep the key handy — you may need to use it in multiple modules.
