Troubleshooting ShellGPT in the CEHv13 Parrot Security VM
If you're having trouble configuring ShellGPT in the Parrot Security VM, follow these steps to resolve the most common issues:
Step 1 – Use the Correct Setup Command
Run the setup wrapper script before using ShellGPT:
Do not use sgpt directly without first running the wrapper.
Step 2 – Use the Correct Activation Key
Obtain your AI Activation Key from your EC-Council learning platform (ASPEN, iClass, or ECL).

Step 3 – Enter the Key Carefully
When prompted by the setup script, paste your activation key into the terminal.

Avoid leading or trailing spaces.

Avoid accidental line breaks.
Step 4 – Re-enter the Key for Each Lab Session
The lab environment resets between sessions. You will need to re-run the setup and re-enter your AI Activation Key each time you start a new session.
Note – No OpenAI Account Needed
You do not need to create an OpenAI account or add billing information. All CEHv13 labs use EC-Council-issued keys that are pre-configured for use.

Network issues: Ensure the lab has an active internet connection.

Command not found: If
sgptis not recognized after setup, verify that the required tools are installed in the VM. -
