Overview
Some CEHv13 labs include an AI-powered tool called ShellGPT to assist with lab tasks. To use ShellGPT, you’ll need an AI Activation Key, which is retrieved from the ASPEN portal after redeeming your Subscription Code.
This article explains exactly how to get your AI Activation Key if you are an EC-Council Academia student.
Important Notes
The AI Activation Key is not the same as your Lab Code.
You will use the AI Activation Key inside the lab (usually in the Parrot Security VM).
Keep the key safe — you will need it for every AI-enabled module.
If you do not have a Subscription Code, contact your course provider.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 – Create or Log In to Your ASPEN Account
Click Register if you are a new user. Fill out all required fields and click Submit.
If you already have an account, skip to Step 3.
Step 2 – Verify Your ASPEN Account
Check your email for a verification message from EC-Council ASPEN.
Follow the link in the email to validate and activate your account.
Step 3 – Log In and Navigate to My Courses
Log in with your username and password.
Click the My Courses tab at the top of the page.
Step 4 – Redeem Your Subscription Code
Click Submit Subscription/Dashboard Code in the top right corner.
Enter your Subscription Code and click Submit.
Your course will appear under the My Courses section.
Step 5 – Download Your AI Activation Key
Under My Courses, locate CEHv13 – Complete Series (Volumes 1–4).
Click the Training button.
On the left-hand side of the Training page, click Download AI Activation Key.
In the pop-up window, click Copy to copy the key, and review the AI Key & Token Usage Guidelines before closing.
Save the key in a secure location (such as Notepad).
Where to Use the AI Key
Launch your CEHv13 lab.
Inside the Parrot Security VM, follow the ShellGPT setup instructions in your lab manual.
When prompted for the AI Activation Key, paste it in.

Troubleshooting
Problem: Subscription Code not accepted
Make sure you’re entering the correct code from your provider.
Codes are case-sensitive — enter exactly as shown.
Problem: AI Activation Key not working
Check for extra spaces when copying/pasting.
Make sure you are entering it in the correct lab environment.
