Using AI Services in the Lab Environment

Category: Cloud Accounts & External Services

Overview

Some EC-Council training labs incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) services to provide hands-on experience using AI-assisted cybersecurity tools.

Depending on the course, learners may be asked to activate or use an AI service as part of a lab exercise.

This article provides general guidance for using AI services during lab activities.

How are AI services used?

AI-enabled labs may include activities such as:

  • Security research
  • Command-line assistance
  • Code generation
  • Log analysis
  • Script development
  • Threat analysis
  • Documentation assistance

The AI features available depend on the course.

Do I need an AI account?

Not always.

Some courses provide access using credentials supplied by EC-Council.

Other courses may require activation before AI features become available.

Always follow the instructions provided in your course guide.

Activation Keys

If your course requires an AI activation key:

  • Follow the activation steps provided in the course guide.
  • Use only the activation key supplied for your training.
  • Do not substitute organizational or third-party API keys unless explicitly instructed by EC-Council.

Why can't I use my own API key?

Some training environments are designed and validated using specific AI services and licensing models.

Using unsupported API keys or third-party services may result in unexpected behavior and is not supported unless explicitly documented by the course.

Protect Your AI Credentials

Treat AI activation keys and credentials as confidential.

Do not:

  • Share activation keys with others.
  • Publish keys in screenshots or online forums.
  • Store keys in public repositories.

Troubleshooting

If AI features are unavailable:

  • Verify that you completed the activation steps.
  • Confirm that the correct activation key was used.
  • Review the course guide for prerequisites.
  • Contact your instructor or EC-Council Support if the issue persists.
