πŸ† Understanding CTF Scoring Rules

Our Capture the Flag (CTF) events use a transparent and fair scoring system that rewards both skill and efficiency. This guide explains how your score is calculated and what affects your team’s ranking.

🎯 How You Earn Points

Each challenge in the event has a score.
Your best score per challenge is what counts β€” replaying a challenge does not stack points.

Your team’s final score is the total of your best scores across all challenges.
Some challenges may include bonus flags, allowing scores above 100 points.

⏱️ Time Matters

All the time you spend in a challenge counts toward your total time, even if you replay it.
This means repeated launches will add more time, not replace it β€” efficient play is key!

βš–οΈ Tie-Breaker Rules

If two or more teams finish with the same total score:

  1. The team with the lower total time ranks higher.
  2. If still tied, we'll identify other fair tiebreakers that meet your event's specific rules and requirements.

🚫 What Doesn’t Count

  • Cancelled runs (manually ended before submission) are excluded from scoring.
  • Auto-submitted runs (when time runs out) do count, just like a normal submission.

πŸ”’ Fairness and Transparency

All runs, scores, and times are automatically tracked by the platform.
After the event:

  • Results are reviewed and verified, twice.
  • A complete Audit Bundle (data, leaderboard, and metrics) is sealed to ensure accuracy.

This process guarantees that all participants are scored consistently and fairly.

πŸ’‘ Pro Tip

Submit what you’ve found β€” even if you’re not finished!
Partial points can make the difference in close rankings.
